CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Tri-State Advertising & Marketing Professionals (AMP) will begin accepting applications June 15 from non-profit organizations in southeast Missouri, southern Illinois and western Kentucky for the 2015 Advertising for a Cause grant. The grant will provide advertising assistance, production and media placement valued at $190,000 for two or more regional public service organizations.
Sixteen regional marketing and media companies, including broadcast television stations FOX 23 KBSI/WDKA MY 49, WPSD and WSIL/KPOB; cable systems Charter Media Southeast Missouri and New Wave Communications Poplar Bluff; radio stations River Radio Group, KYMO, Withers Broadcasting Group, FOX Radio Network Group and Pure Country C106; outdoor display companies DSW Signs Outdoor Advertising, Bootheel Signs and ADWORKS; creative service companies Red Letter Communications, Andrew Chronister Video Productions, and The Wright Group have donated services to fund the grant, which will be coordinated by Tri-State AMP. Once the recipients are selected, multi-media public service campaigns will be developed and implemented for each organization, covering a five-state service area.

Advertising for a Cause was initially launched in 2009 with four media and creative sponsors and awarded a $40,000 grant to the Eastern Missouri Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
In 2011, the grant rose to $100,000 with 10 media and creative sponsors and was awarded to The Food Bank serving the entire southeast Missouri region. The Food Bank provided assistance to over 10,000 additional food insecure people, delivered over 1,00,000 meals to families in need and dramatically increased their mobile community assistance delivery and the Backpacks for Schools program.
Seventeen media and creative sponsors made it possible to award two separate grants totaling $170,000 to two non-profit organizations in 2013. They were CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), which serves four different judicial districts in 14 counties in southeast Missouri, southern Illinois and western Kentucky and Aging Matters (formerly known as Southeast Missouri Area on Aging), serving 17 counties. Thanks to the publicity and awareness made possible by the grant, CASA identified and screened approximately 125 new potential CASA volunteers. Aging Matters documented a 12 percent increase in the delivery of meals projected an increase of 147,000 meals for the remainder of the year and reached almost 1,000 seniors who attended their Medicare Boot Camps and community events in Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff.
With the award of the $190,000 grant this year, Tri-State AMP will have delivered media exposure and creative services to non-profit organizations totaling $500,000.
Tri-State Advertising & Marketing Professionals is a non-profit organization made up of communications professionals in the Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Paducah, Ky.; and Harrisburg, Ill., areas. The organization seeks to provide and promote a better understanding of the functions and value of advertising; apply the skills, creativity and energy of the advertising industry in solving social problems; advance the standards of advertising through voluntary self-regulation; and promote good fellowship and free exchange of ideas. Tri-State AMP is affiliated with the American Advertising Federation and the Ninth District, AAF.
